Grape Varieties in Hunter Valley

Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s outstanding wine regions . It is located in the state of New South Wales; the region itself has been an important part in the historic timeline of Australian wine and was one of the first to grow wines in the early 19th Century. Because of its proximity to the bustling roads of Sydney the valley became known and it has been fuelled by trade links in the city. When driving through the scenic view of Hunter Valley you’ll notice the rows of grapevines which also contribute to make the surroundings even more appealing in the eyes. The valley has the widest planted variety of grapes; these are Chardonnay, Semillon and Verdelho among the white grape variety and Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot among the red grape variety. Chardonnay is one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the valley. It is identifiable with its rich oaky flavor.
